Nathan Knecht was born and raised in Boulder, Colorado. His passion for modern architecture, the natural environment, appropriate technologies and sustainable systems took him on adventures throughout Colorado, the South West United States and as far away as Australia. Today his practice aims to blend the built environment with the natural environment through patient observation and a strong ethic.

Nathan has a BA in Environmental Design from the University of Colorado, Boulder and a Masters of Architecture from the University of Colorado, Denver. He finished his studies abroad at the University of Technology Sydney in Australia. He is a certified permaculture educator and has operated his own small urban farm. He worked locally with environmental design firms Barrett Studio Architects and Gettliffe Architecture before opening his own practice in 2018. Nathan is a licensed architect in the State of Colorado and an active member of the American Institute of Architects. He lives in Boulder, Colorado with his wife and three children.
